This seminar is designed to help you understand the basic concepts of Crystal report design, as well as methods and techniques on how to create your own custom reports with Nextgen data. Topics include:
- Preparing to write a report
- Layout/Developing a report prototype
- Understanding the Nextgen tables and field names
- Previewing and saving report
- Report creation from scratch
- Formatting reports
- Changing font size
- Moving fields to different positions
- Adding and removing tables and fields to and from reports
- Using Nextgen dates
- Using the Nextgen database formula to convert stored date to everyday readable date
- Sorting/Grouping
- How to add sort options to parameters
- How to add grouping to reports
- Using the Select Expert
- Learn how to limit data based on parameter entry or any specific data you would like to omit from the report
- Parameters
- How to add and remove parameters
- Subtotals/Summary/Grand Totals
- How to add subtotals, summaries, and grand totals to reports for any numerical column
- Creating formulas
- Creating formulas to display dollar value fields in red if they are negative values
- Creating formulas to suppress lines and fields if they are 0 quantity or $0 value lines
- Enhancing reports
- Adding and removing your own fields to and from standard reports

- Where to store modified reports so they do not get overwritten by updates

- How to use Nextgen and financial tables and fields more effectively
Microsoft Excel
- Getting familiar with Microsoft Excel controls and features
- Navigating through menu bar and tool bar options in Microsoft Excel
- How to make a data connection and pull Nextgen data into Excel
- Copying data from Nextgen grids into Excel columns and rows and sorting information
