Convert Serial # in CN History is new in Rev 15 that allows you to convert old item/serial records to new in the Contract History file. When two serial numbers are merged together in the Serial Merge program, you have the option of converting only service history, sales history or both. It does not convert the serial number in Contract History. This program allows the Item / Serial Number to be converted in the Contract History File (CNHIST.DT). It does not change contract number. For example, item number SF90 serial 444 is on contract number 140 and it is merged to serial 555 which is on contract 300. If this program is run on this machine, contract history for contract 140 and contract 300 will both have serial number 555 listed. This should used carefully, because once a serial number “merged” into another one, it can not be “unmerged”. There is a prompt to enter the old item and serial number. This does not need to be a valid machine in the serial file. The operator then enters the new item and serial number. This must be a valid machine in the serial file. This program can only be accessed if Contract History module is activated at the site.
