Rev 15 Changes
An option has been added to the Create Conversion Files program to combine the branch number and the technician number in the Technician Number field in the Service ASCII File (FIXSERV). This feature is for dealers that have multiple branches using separate data directories and that have the same technician numbers in different branches. If this feature is not used, two different technicians will have the same technician number on the B.E.I. system and the two technicians will show as one technician on the Technician Compensation Report. This feature has an option to take the Branch Number from the Sales Rep/Technician record (SLMD) for the technician that completed the call, or from the Serial record for the machine. It will make this branch two characters long and will place it directly before the technician number before placing it in the ASCII file technician number field. For example, if the branch number is 1, and the technician number is 20, the technician number field in the ASCII file will be 0120. If the branch number is 10 and technician number is 20, the technician number field in the ASCII file will be 1020. If the branch is over 99, the only the last two digits will be used.
The question that is asked is “When Combining Branch With Tech Number, Use Branch From 1) Sale Rep File, 2) Serial File, Or 3) Do Not Combine Branch And Tech ”. It should be answered with “3” to not do the combining unless B.E.I. Services has asked you to use this feature.
