Program Description
This program can be found on the Contracts Data Entry menu (CN-1-2) and the Service Data Entry menu (SD-1-10). It allows the user to remove a non-contract machine from a customer site. When this is done, various information is cleared in the Serial (SERIALD) file. There is the option to return the machine to Inventory. When this is done, the warehouse on hand inventory is updated. When Machine Tracking is activated in Contract Control File Maintenance, a completed custody service call is created. Warehouses numbers can range from 1 to 9999. There is also a Serial File Lockout feature that prevents someone from accessing the same serial number while accessing the machine in Machine Removal. With the new information that is stored in the Serial file, the appropriate fields are now cleared when a machine is removed from a customer site.

Rev 13 Changes
This program will add to a new index associated with the Service History file (DISP.DT) when a Machine Tracking record is created. The index name is CCALL.IX.
When a machine is removed from a customer site and Y is entered in the prompt Has Machine Been Returned Into Inventory?, the prompt Used Machine (Y'es, N'o, R'ental, Q=Reman.) appears. Enter Y for yes to indicate that it is a used machine, enter N to indicate that it is not a used machine, enter R for rental, or enter Q to indicate that the machine is remanufactured. Also, there is the option to choose any letter or number. This will be written into the Serial file (SERIALD) and can be seen in Machine Placement or Detailed Machine Inquiry. This prompt will default to Y to indicate a used machine.
A new global field was added to Contract Control File Maintenance. If this field (35) is set to Y, and during Machine Removal the user enters N to the prompt Has Machine Been Returned To Inventory?, the program will clear out Location 1, Location 2, Primary Technician, Secondary Technician, Sales Rep, and Response Code in the Serial file (SERIALD).
When Y is entered in the Has Machine Been Returned To Inventory (Y/N) prompt, the program will now do three additional things:
The current system date will write into the Date Received Into Inventory field in the Serial file (SERIALD).
The program will prompt the user to enter the new cost of the machine. The original machine cost in the Serial File (SERIALD) will display as a default. The cost that is entered will write in to the Machine Cost field in the Serial File (SERIALD).
Also, an Inventory Transaction record (IMWACTD) will be created to show the transaction. If the machine had a warehouse number in the Serial File prior to being removed from the customer site, the Item or Item Warehouse file on hand amount is decreased by one. This will create an Inventory Transaction record with the quantity -1.
A prompt will display for the warehouse number in which the machine will be placed. The on hand quantity in this warehouse is increased by one. This will create an Inventory Transaction record with the quantity 1. Both records will have a document number of CN REMOVE.
Rev 12 Documentation
Machine Removal is found on the Contracts Data Entry menu, 1-2 and the Service Data Entry menu, 1-10. Machine Removal removes a non-contract machine from a customer. When a machine is removed from a customer site, various information is zeroed out in the Serial File. There is an option to return the machine to your inventory. When the machine is returned to inventory the warehouse’s on hand is updated. With the Machine Tracking switch activated, a completed custody service call is created.
Changes were made in Revision 12 to allow input of a warehouse from 1 to 9999. Also added was Serial File lockout. This prevents someone from accessing the same serial number while accessing the machine in Machine Removal. With the new additions of information that are stored in the Serial File, the appropriate fields are now zeroed out when a machine is removed from a customer site.

When the machine is returned to inventory, the Serial File is updated with the warehouse number that the machine is returned to. The on hand quantity is added to in the warehouse. When a machine is being accessed in programs that update the Serial File, such as Machine Placement or Serial File Maintenance, and an attempt is made to access the machine in Machine Removal, the prompt Serial Number Is In Use On Another Task appears. The cursor returns to the Item No. prompt. The machine is not accessed until the other program is exited.
