Program Description
This program can be found on the Sales Management File Maintenance menu (SM-3-7). The Sales Management Control File stores groups of records that control or define the operating parameters of the Sales Management section. These records are generally defined at the time of installation and rarely changed after that point. However, they can be easily configured in order to set certain defaults and prompts in the system.
Rev 14 Changes
A new field was added. This is field 10 “Changing Customers Should Also Change Sales Mgmt Prospect File 1) All Fields, 2) Only Changed Fields, 3) Ask Per Change, Or 4) Do Not Update”.
Prior to Revision 14, if an operator changed certain fields (like address, phone number, contact name, etc) in Customer File Maintenance, the program would ask the operator if those fields should be updated in the Sales Management Prospect File. If the operator chose Y for yes, all of the fields that are in both the Customer and Sales Management Prospect files would be updated with the contents of the Customer file. Therefore, if an operator would change the county code for example, and answered N for no to update the Sales Management Prospects, then if another operator came in and changed contact name and said Y for yes to update the Sales Management Prospect File, both fields in the Sales Management Prospect File would be updated with the contents of the Customer File for that customer. An option has been added to change all fields automatically, only change the fields that were changed automatically, ask the operator per change, or do not update Sales Management fields. The fields affected are company name, address line 1, address line 2, city, state, zip code, phone number, fax number, contact person # 1 (contact name, SIC Code, county code, sales rep and territory.
