La Crosse Management Systems Unveils Application Integration with Sharp OSA

On January 8 in Minneapolis, MN, and January 18 in Kansas City, MO, we attended two road show events sponsored by Sharp Document Solutions Company of America, in which the featured product was Sharp OSA. For those of you who are not familiar with Sharp OSA, it stands for Open Systems Architecture. This technology allows custom applications to be run right on the panel of a Sharp OSA-enabled MFP. We at La Crosse Management Systems were extremely proud to introduce a new application called OSA Raptor, in which users of Sharp OSA-enabled machines are able to enter, complete, and generate tickets for service calls.

OSA Raptor also gives you the ability to review service history, initiate parts calls, generate supply order requests, and enter meter readings. This eliminates the need to use an internet-capable device, such as a PDA or laptop to work with service calls, supply orders, and meter readings in the field. Everything you need is right there on Sharp OSA-enabled MFPs. This is not just a concept, this is reality! A VERIFIED INDUSTRY FIRST!

Store, Retrieve and Manage Windows Documents and Images in Nextgen

As of the March 2007 update, La Crosse Nextgen will have a powerful integrated document and image management system. Through the technology of SQL Binary Large Objects (BLOB), this function eliminates the need to store and modify separate documents in folders on your workstation or network, or use a third party document management system. You can safely and conveniently attach and store any number of Windows documents or scanned images to use as supporting documentation for your Nextgen records. Attach documents such as signed proposals in PDF, notes in Word documents or text files, Excel spreadsheets, scanned photos, or signatures to serial records, leases, invoices, transactions, contracts, service calls, or customer records, as well as many others. Nextgen document and image management provides you with rock solid SQL security because your files are stored in one location, which is right in your Nextgen database. In addition, there is no need to worry about backing up your files, since your SQL database backup does all the work for you.

1099 Report Tips for Completing your 1099 Forms

This procedure shows you how to generate 1099 vendor information from Nextgen in order to complete your 1099 forms.
    • The vendor must be marked as a 1099 vendor. This can be done at any time prior to running the 1099 report from Nextgen. In the Vendor Wizard, this is panel 5 of 7 (Vendor Attributes Info panel).
      1. The '1099 Vendor' box needs to be checked.
      2. You can store the FEIN (Federal Employer Identification Number/Social Security number) in the Tax ID Number field of the Vendor Attributes panel.
    • To run the 1099 report, go to Reports > AP/AR and select 1099 Report (these are not the actual 1099 forms):
      1. Parameters: Posted transactions
      2. Date Range: 1/1/2006 through 12/31/2006
      3. Vendor Range: All
      4. Financial Division: Run for each financial division
    • Please refer to Internal Revenue Service guidelines for specific 1099 reporting requirements.

    Nextgen Update Release Notes

As of the 20061201.00 (December 2006) Nextgen update release, Nextgen’s Help system includes links to the topics describing each new feature and report included in the release. You can access this information by clicking "Release Notes from most recent Nextgen update" on the Nextgen Online Help Start panel, or selecting the following from the Contents tab: Getting Started > Recent Release Notes. The Help system also includes an expanded section of release notes with formatted tables containing all of the same information the Excel format readme files contain, so that you no longer have to open a separate file to access the detailed data for each Nextgen release.

View from the Top: The Definition of a Leader

The definition of a leader is:
    1. to go at the head of or in advance of an industry.
    2. to be led or submit to being led, as a horse: A properly trained horse will be led easily.
La Crosse is well known in the industry to fit definition (A). With our own organically developed Nextgen application coupled with similarly developed Raptor applications, La Crosse is unquestionably an (A). To further that point, next month, we will officially release our OSA Raptor. The Sharp Electronics partnership is the world’s first fully functioning e-commerce application operated directly from the panel of a copier…the world’s first. (A). Those that immediately take action and work feverishly to catch up are nothing more than a well trained horse.
A prospective client asked us recently: "Why La Crosse instead of the competition?" The immediate response had to do with technology, software applications, feature return on investment, etc. Upon further reflection, the final comment was made. "You want to know that your dealership automation software is a leader, assures that you are a leader in your market, and the company behind it knows how to run in the lead." OMD didn’t, La Crosse always did and still does.

We want to thank you for letting us be your partner in dealership automation software training and development.

    Until next time,
    John Brostrom
    Tom Smith
