User Tips

Finding Program and Report Titles on the Nextgen Main Menu Interface

A feature that has proven very useful on the Nextgen Main Menu Interface is the Find feature. From any screen on the Nextgen menu, you will see the Find button in the tool bar (binoculars). This feature works best if you click on the Home button and start finding menu titles from the beginning screen.
  • When you click on the Find button, enter any key word or key word phrase, then click Find Next.
  • You can keep searching through the entire Nextgen menu until you find a match.
  • Program titles and report titles that are located on password-secured screens are not included in the search.

Missing Tax Band Rate for Quantity Break when Billing a Contract

This could be caused by two reasons:
  1. The Contract Line Item Charge Break (Level 4) effective dates of the contract are after the start of the period you are billing the contract for.
    • If you look at the base due date (on level 1) billed in arrears (let's say it is July 1, 2007), the base billing period is 3. When you bill it, the date range for base billing will be April 2, 2007 - July 1, 2007. The effective date on the 4th level records for base needs to be before April 2, 2007.
    • If you look at the base due date (on level 1) not billed in arrears (let's say it is July 1, 2007), the base billing period is 3. When you bill it, the date range for base billing will be July 1, 2007 - September 30, 2007. The effective date on the 4th level records for base needs to be before July 1, 2007.
    • If you look at the meter due date (on level 1) (let's say it is July 1, 2007), the meter billing period is 3. When you bill it, the date range for meter billing will be April 2, 2007 - July 1, 2007. The effective date in level 4 for the meter codes not equal to BASE (ie. BW, CLR, etc.) must be before April 2, 2007.
  2. There is a missing tax band or the tax band effective date is in the future.
    • If you go into File Maintenance > GL Financials 2 > Work With Taxes, right click on your Tax ID and choose Work With Tax Bands. Then right click on the tax code that is on the contract and choose Work With Tax Rates. Make sure there is a record here and the effective date is prior to the dates the contract is billing for.
